Some Tips On Choosing An SEO Expert

Friday, November 20th, 2009

It is a known fact that SEO technology changes rapidly and it can be time consuming to keep yourself constantly updated with its developments. It is not a wonder then that many online business owners are willing to spend money on SEO experts if that would mean saving themselves the time and energy to learn about the whole process. But many soon found out that the self-proclaimed specialists that they hire do not prove to be that competent after all. And already having spent much, it is too late when they realize that they should have given enough attention in choosing for the right person.

The following are recommended ways to find a dependable and effective SEO expert:

1. Make some research. It is to your advantage if you know a bit about SEO. Information about this topic is available in Google and at other search engines. By obtaining some information, you can determine the exact needs of your website and be able to carry out a technical discussion with your potential candidate. Being literate with the basics is necessary before you call in a professional.

2. Search for recommendations through online networks. Peep into the networks of web owners for recommendations or comments on SEO experts and firms whose services they have availed. See the testimonials and assess their veracity, if they are only for promotions or they are telling the truth. Trust your opinion.

3. Check on the performance of the SEO expert. Know the level of his competence. Check his previous works such as projects and websites that are related to the task at hand. Verify if the websites he has helped are found in top placements of search results. Very importantly, try to see if the works he has shown are authentically his.

4. Set a discussion. To have someone work professionally for you means that you can bring up your concerns smoothly and orderly and that you can expect for an honest and open discussion. The manner by which the SEO expert engages with you in a conversation can be a good cue of how far he can help you. If he listens attentively and meticulously goes into the details then you just might have someone who can give you that personalized service.

Selecting an SEO expert needs ample time and attention. After all, it is the future of your business that is at stake here. You would not want to entrust your hopes and your investments to someone you hardly knew so why should you not give enough time so that you can select for the best candidate? Though no one can give you a perfect service but then at least through your active efforts, you’ll increase your chances of finding a good one!

Advantages Of Rank Checking Software As Opposed To Manually Checking

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Search engine optimization is the basic groundwork for a website that has been newly launched. Just like any other business man, you would want your online leap to bring progress and success for you. Keeping track of the search engine optimization that has been done for your site is indeed an inevitable task. But imagine if every month this was done automatically without you having to check your page rank manually.

Having a piece of software to carry out this process of checking your page’s search engine rank can save lots of time and is a dream come true for most owners of online enterprises. Another advantage is that automated software is more likely to be 100% accurate than a human being because the mind is prone to errors when carrying out long, tedious tasks.

To overcome such issues as the time it takes to manually check the rankings of all your pages and how easily errors can be made, software has been developed by the SEO experts and professional webmasters so that you can check whether or not your SEO strategies are working in the way you want them to. So not only will these checks save time but you can look at the progress you’re making with your current strategies and change them accordingly.

Choosing the right software is imperative. You wouldn’t want to buy cheap software that isn’t all that efficient and then get nowhere with your search engine optimization. So although the initial investment for decent software may seem fairly expensive, the perfect results that good software can return will be invaluable to your online presence in the long run.

Something that more or less every retail based business in existence needs to understand is that nowadays people are hard pressed for time and money, and so if they can pick up what they need from an online store rather than have to go out to the shop and physically buy it, then they will usually choose the online option, and so having a presence on the web for your business has never been more important.

Wolfram Alpha Vs Google - Competitors or Companions?

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Those of you who versed in the more technical aspects of the web will have done well to avoid talk of a new search engine that went live recently – Wolfram Alpha. With it came the inevitable web chatter speculating whether this would be the technology to finally put a dent into Google's considerable online presence.

Before we get to that, it is important to first establish what Wolfram Alpha is as to call it a search engine would be to miss the point ever so slightly. The Wikipedia definition informs us that is in fact an "answer engine" that provides an "online service that answers factual queries directly by computing the answer from structured data".Put simply, users enter a computational query via the text box and Wolfram Alpha generates results in a number of textual and graphical formats, as well as putting forward other relevant topics.

As an example, inputting "70 miles per hour" will reveal a number of conversions to other units of speed (1680 miles per day) as well as offering other quirky statistics by way of example (75 miles per hour is evidently an approximation of a cheetah's running speed).

Wolfram Alpha isn’t limited to purely numerical or statistical input.Eager users have found a number of hidden 'easter eggs' by entering such keywords as "to be or not to be" (which returns "that is the question") and "what is the meaning of life (which as any Douglas Adams reader knows, is "42").

This leads us back to the original question "is it better than Google?”.  I think this is a question that can’t yet be answered in these early stages as Wolfram Alpha and Google are clearly entirely different animals. In time if one decides to take on attributes and functionality of the other, then perhaps we will have a more level playing field on which will be able to draw a sensible conclusion. In the meantime, we should embrace the vast archives of knowledge that these two sites allow us to delve into.

Improving Your Website For More Sales

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

If you create more value for your customers, you will get more sales. So to increase your success you must make adding value to your website a top priority. This is directed towards Information marketing, (one of the best ways to make money), but can generally be applied to any web site. Here are some great tips to making your site the best it can be:

1.You can add more value by adding more pages to your site
Think about creating a whats new page or a FAQ page to increase your customer service. People will appreciate the new helpful information.
2.Add new products
You need to be adding to your current products to increase your sales. No one can buy from you more than once if you only have one product! This can also attract more customers if you write more material that wasn’t in the first book, or if you write about a different topic in your niche market.
3.Test different versions of your website
The only real way to figure out exactly what website set-up is best is to make different versions, and test them out. Keep the one that makes the most sales!
4.Add audio
This can be a great selling point on your website. Adding audio creates a greater connection between you and your customers. The more they feel safe buying from you, the more often they will buy your product. Audio is also good because your customers are more likely to stop and listen to your audio then they are to read a sales letter. You can also use audio in combination with a sales letter.
5.Add testimonials
Your customers will love the reassurance of previous customer’s great experiences with your product.
5.Add testimonials
Your customers will love the reassurance of previous customer’s great experiences with your product.
6.Improve current content
Add value to your current information to generate more sales. Create more chapters in your e book and maybe even widen your topic range. Widening your topic range creates more of a market and that means more customers. Just be careful to stay in your general market so your customers will still be interested. When you add more content you may want to have an idea in mind for a sequel.
7.Add more paragraphs to your sales letter
Add more text to your sales letter, so your customer gets more bang for their reading time. Don’t forget to mention what your product can do for them and all the great things that are included!

Use these tips to keep your website updated and ready to take on your competition.

Best Wishes!

Outsource SEO Vs In-house SEO

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

SEO is becoming increasingly important to all who look to do business and use the Internet as a marketing tool. It is the path in which your market finds your offering. It has become almost a necessity for businesses to incorporate SEO in to their marketing plan. Many companies struggle with the decision on whether to hire a firm or conduct their SEO in-house. Unfortunately many companies lack the knowledge about SEO and assume it will be cheaper for them in the long run to hire someone “in-house”. For some companies this may be efficient while others the overlooking the hiring of a professional firm to SEO can be costly. It is as critical to your business’ health as if you were to feel that you could heal a fatal disease yourself because you have access to the Internet and books instead of going to a highly trained physician. Now you laugh and say that would be absurd, but is the growth of your company worth the risk.

Knowledge Versus Cost Versus Time = Your Success

SEO is an ever changing business. Search engines change their algorithm frequently and new rules are put into place. One has to have the resources to find this information and understand how to implement the changes. An SEO firm is more likely to be aware of changes to search engine optimization protocols than an in-house individual. Many in-house individual will focus on developing and implementing your SEO strategies but typically remain in the dark about what goes on outside your organization due to they do not work with other scenarios. Outsourced SEO professionals must perform these same functions while constantly studying the industry, staying current with changing trends and familiarizing themselves with the latest SEO techniques. It is a part of their day to day business and necessary if they intend to compete in the marketplace and wish to survive.

What about cost? Surely the cost of hiring an individual is substantially less than the cost of hiring a company, right? This is a common misconception. Let’s look at it this way. You hire an E-Commerce Marketing Manager whose job is to develop and implements the strategic online marketing plan for an organization. Staying abreast of changes in the online marketing environment to best serve the objectives of the organization and adjusts plans accordingly. They may even be responsible for overseeing other aspects of the website such as the advertising and content components. In most cases the individual will be wearing many hats spreading them thin. His or her base salary according to Salary.com on average would be $85,703. That is $7141.92 a month and roughly $42 an hour. This is for one individual with hopes that they bear positive results. Let’s say they do not. It will take 3 to 6 months to start to truly see if the individual is an asset or not. That is $21,425.76 if you decide to let the individual go in just the third month. Not to include cost of taxes and benefits. And if successful, your company just paid $85,703 per year for SEO.

The average SEO firm charges anywhere from $5500 to $35000 to perform the same task with a staff of highly trained professionals in the area of link building, writing, optimizing, web development etc. Even on the high end you are getting a staff for the entire year for around what it cost you to hire an individual in-house for a quarter. And if it does not bear positive results and you decide to terminate the relationship you will only have lost less than $10,000 if prorated based on the $35000. in most cases you can even get some of that back. This logistically saves you time and money.

Would you agree that having one individual do the job of five is rarely a good idea? Would you feel it cost effective?

Time is another concern with in-house SEO. Will one individual be able to optimize multiple pages, write content, tags, build links, run reports and perform other SEO tasks in a timely fashion? One person can only do so much. Would you agree that time is money? Most SEO firms can do in a matter of days what might take an individual weeks to do. Many companies who use in-house SEO personnel spend more than necessary to get the same amount of work done in a longer amount of time. Once again you have one individual doing many task versus many individuals doing one task effectively.

In any case, is outsourcing the right move for you or your company? Whether you choose to outsource or not, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Do your research by performing a simple cost/benefit analysis on what outsourcing versus in-house SEO will cost. It cost twice as much when you do it wrong the first time.

Results are all that matters. Top rankings for phrases no one is searching for means little, and shouldn’t be used as a guage of someone’s abilities. Ensure they can provide you with keywords that work for your business as well as a diverse plan of action.

What do others say about the company or individual? Ask for references and check them. But even if they have limited or no reference don’t panic. They still may know what they are doing. Just test them on a small project and see if they bear results for you. This is a true way to measure if they work for you. There are many variables you may not have privilege to in a reference such as their personal relationship or if they were a part of a team that was successful but they contributed little.

Remember, SEO is important to your business growth and time is money one way or another. Do the math and ask yourself what makes sense for you.
