If you are looking for a RemoveNoFollow plugin for your WordPress blog (in other words, you want a way to make your blog’s links DOFOLLOW), just be aware that some plugins dont work now. They probably did work once but I am guessing that recent changes in WP have made them ineffective.

Case in point is RemoveNoFollow from http://www.seopedia.org. It used to work and the script is simple enough but I noticed it is not working for me any more. And that’s easy enough to test. Just go to a blog that says it runs the plugin and do a View Source. I found that comment author links were still tagged as ‘external nofollow’.

Recommended DoFollow plugin

When I replaced that plugin with the DoFollow plugin from http://kimmo.suominen.com/sw/dofollow it works just fine. There are options if you wish but the default settings are just fine. One option is to mark your trackbacks and pingbacks with nofollow. This effective plugin is one short PHP file called dofollow.php

DoFollow Blogs

My site at http://nichemarketingexplained.com is a dofollow site. Just leave a comment and your comment author URL will be followed because I’m using Kimmo’s plugin there. I’m also running the TOP COMMENTATORS PLUGIN there so your link will show on every page of the site for the month. Come back next month to comment again – and you get plenty of linkback juice for your (tiny amount of) effort.

For the easiest way to see at a glance whether a link is “no follow” or “do follow”, Firefox users can grab the free addon at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5687

When in use (and you can turn it on/off from your Tools dropdown menu – just 2 clicks), doFollow links are highlighted in blue and noFollow links are highlighted in pink.
